Welcome to Colleen's web site, version 5.0!
Colleen is an awesome kid who loves to read, do homework (and she isn't even in school yet) and play outside. She is an artist, philosopher and great mathematician. She is a very good photographer, too, who was recently introduced to a digital camera. The photo at the top of the page is a self-portrait.
Her favorite color is pink. She loves to wear dresses, play dress-up and play with dolls. She is all girl. However, she is also tough. She likes to get dirty, jump on the trampouline, rough house, pick up bugs and play soccer. Noone has ever told her not to do these things, so she loves them as well. Her girl idols are her cousins Ashley and Katelyn, who are gorgeous sports jocks. She adores all of her cousins — because she thinks the girls are beautiful and the boys are WILD! But she particularly talks about these two a lot, probably because they embody both of her favorite characteristics!
Currently, the blog below is updated by her parents. However, you should expect entries from her in the very near future.
We hope you also will take time to look at her photo album, which contains pictures that we update on rare occasions. New visitors might be interested in reading about Colleen's birth or her heart surgery, or seeing photos she took of her house.

Colleen's birthday was outrageously successful. I think we counted 41 attendees and 18 cars parked in our driveway. (If we ever sell the house, we are going to advertise that it has parking for 18. ha ha.)
Colleen held up pretty well most of the day. She was in a so-so mood during most of the party, then, as people started leaving, she really cut loose and turned into shiny, happy kid. She likes people, but I think she was just really overwhelmed with the attention. Oh well. Isn't that the definition of a first birthday party?
It was a lot of fun and we loved having people over, but she will never have another one like it in my lifetime. Next year, it's Chuck E Cheese or the museum or McDonald's. I never again want to watch my house go from the cleanest it ever has been to totally trashed in four hours. We'll let Chuck E clean up after the mayhem.
My birthday on the 18th was also quite awesome. Troy planned an evening of great surprises. First, we had a surprise ballroom dance lesson which was SO MUCH FUN! We are thinking about doing more this summer. It was so great. Then, we went to dinner at a downtown Italian restaurant we've never been to before. During dinner, a surprise gift appeared out of nowhere - just like in the movies! After, we went for a carriage ride around downtown. It was a balmy April evening, which made it that much better. (I don't ever recall there being such a thing. Troy said he ordered the weather, too.) Then, the next night we went to an Irish pub with friends. I lost my license. I'm hoping when I go to get a new one they will let me lie about my age. Ha ha. Actually, I already lie about my weight and my eye color is hard to categorize. Pretty soon, the stats on the license are going to be more like Cindy Crawford and less like me.
TTFN!

We spent all day cleaning house, cleaning out the garages and planning Colleen's party. We are going to have fun. We are trying to decide between cold cuts and chili or Italian take-out. I'm voting Italian because it's less work for me. Troy thinks we should do cold cuts and chili because it will be more food. I just don't want the work! He SWEARS he will do it all. Yeah, right.

The kid is growing like a weed. Tonight, for dinner, she ate a whole banana, about half a cup of Cheerios, two jars of baby veggies and almost a whole sweet potato! She is going to be six feet tall (or wide) by her birthday if she keeps this up. Daddy also found a new ticklish spot - behind the knees. It made her laugh so hard she snorted!
We found an apartment for Grandma and Grandpa today. We are excited about it. They are going to live near here and watch Colleen all summer. How exciting!

Hi! Welcome to Colleen's Blog (short for web log). I hope you'll enjoy reading little updates about Colleen and her family. This is the first day for her blog, so there isn't much to see. The archives won't be working because, well, there aren't any archives yet! Come back soon to read more about her.
On this day, I posted her redesigned web site. I also posted her birthday invitation. Enjoy!
