ColleenWelcome to Colleen's web site, version 5.0!

Colleen is an awesome kid who loves to read, do homework (and she isn't even in school yet) and play outside. She is an artist, philosopher and great mathematician. She is a very good photographer, too, who was recently introduced to a digital camera. The photo at the top of the page is a self-portrait.

Her favorite color is pink. She loves to wear dresses, play dress-up and play with dolls. She is all girl. However, she is also tough. She likes to get dirty, jump on the trampouline, rough house, pick up bugs and play soccer. Noone has ever told her not to do these things, so she loves them as well. Her girl idols are her cousins Ashley and Katelyn, who are gorgeous sports jocks. She adores all of her cousins — because she thinks the girls are beautiful and the boys are WILD! But she particularly talks about these two a lot, probably because they embody both of her favorite characteristics!

Currently, the blog below is updated by her parents. However, you should expect entries from her in the very near future.

We hope you also will take time to look at her photo album, which contains pictures that we update on rare occasions. New visitors might be interested in reading about Colleen's birth or her heart surgery, or seeing photos she took of her house.

Colleen had a great Memorial Day weekend with her very own "Grandma and Grandpa" vacation. I had fun, too, spending the weekend at home with Christine. Troy did his annual Kentucky trip with the guys.

Little Miss Thang was a ball of energy when I picked her up from Grandma's house. She was talking a mile a minute and hasn't stopped for 24 hours. I'm not totally sure what she is saying, but certain phrases keep repeating. She says, "I had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's." She also says, "Oh, Brittany's funny." (Brittany is Aunt Ramona's dog.)

I hate to sound like a broken record, but this kid is growing like a weed. I am pretty sure she has grown 3-4 inches in the past six weeks. She just has these funny little spurts like Troy described. She certainly is in a much better mood these days!

We got a delivery of dirt this morning - Phase I in our playground landscaping project! I hope in a week or two, Colleen will have a fabulous piece of flat ground to call her own!

Colleen had a big day. Saturday, she spent the night with Grandma Kearby and spent most of Mother's Day with Grandma Blankenship. This gave her Mommy (and Daddy) time to go see two movies!! She also counted to nine today all by herself. We are sooooo proud. We are contacting Mensa tomorrow (joking).

She finally seems to be through her "terrible twos" stage that made our lives on edge for the last 3 weeks. We think it was just a phase, part of a growth spurt. She is now gobbling up all the food she can get and seems to have grown an inch over night. We are starting to see a pattern... she seems very irritable and irrational for several weeks, then eats a lot and then grows in a spurt. We assume the irritability is a sign of the mental part of a growth spurt and that she may just not be able to control and process all of her new thoughts and feelings.

Regardless, we love her and are very, very proud of all of her accomplishments. Yeah, Colleen!
