Welcome to Colleen's web site, version 5.0!
Colleen is an awesome kid who loves to read, do homework (and she isn't even in school yet) and play outside. She is an artist, philosopher and great mathematician. She is a very good photographer, too, who was recently introduced to a digital camera. The photo at the top of the page is a self-portrait.
Her favorite color is pink. She loves to wear dresses, play dress-up and play with dolls. She is all girl. However, she is also tough. She likes to get dirty, jump on the trampouline, rough house, pick up bugs and play soccer. Noone has ever told her not to do these things, so she loves them as well. Her girl idols are her cousins Ashley and Katelyn, who are gorgeous sports jocks. She adores all of her cousins — because she thinks the girls are beautiful and the boys are WILD! But she particularly talks about these two a lot, probably because they embody both of her favorite characteristics!
Currently, the blog below is updated by her parents. However, you should expect entries from her in the very near future.
We hope you also will take time to look at her photo album, which contains pictures that we update on rare occasions. New visitors might be interested in reading about Colleen's birth or her heart surgery, or seeing photos she took of her house.

Colleen has gotten a little... shall we say... "bossy" lately. She has always been very self-confident and not shy at telling you what she wants. But just in the last week or so that confidence has turned into demanding what she wants and negotiating her terms.

Colleen got her first library card
Today, Colleen went to the Avon Public Library and got her very first library card. She was so excited about the idea that she barely slept the night before. She was so thrilled when she finally got the little gold card. She clung to it tightly the whole time we searched the stacks for the perfect four books to check out. She proudle handed it to the Librarian to check out her books. And she carried her card into the house when we got home.
And, of course, she also lost it immediately in her room.
We're so proud.

Out of the blue yesterday Colleen said, "Mommy, I love you. I love you more than bunnies!"
I accepted this as the compliment it was and returned with, "Thank you, Colleen. I love you more than chocolate."

Colleen lost her first tooth yesterday! It was the bottom, middle right tooth. She is with me here helping me write this post. Here is what she has to say:
"The tooth fairy came. And she gave me Party Safari tokens. (That's a local place like Chuck E. Cheese.) I got five Party Safari tokens. The tooth hurt after it came out, but it didn't wiggle before it fell out. So, I went to the dentist. And he checked my tooth and it was ok. And I got to have stickers. Two stickers. And I got a pencil from the dentist. Then, I went to go sign up for kindergarten. I got to get paper dollies and I'm going to go to kindergarten at White Oak."
We did try to go sign up for kindergarten. They had "kindergarten round-up" at one of the schools. It was the most disorganized mess I've ever seen in my life. I only knew about it 10 minutes before we got there, so that didn't help anything. Surprisingly, though, every person I talked to had only heard about it that day. Most of us were in the same boat. I didn't have any of the paperwork with me they needed. It ended up being a huge waste of my time. They gave her an "entrance" test that consisted of asking her to identify colors, draw a picture and count to 20. We pretty much covered that when Colleen was 2. Colleen got marked for speech therapy testing because she was acting like a goofball and intentionally slurring her words. So proud. (Colleen said it was because she was nervous.)
